My Rating: ★★★★
Line Walker 2: Invisible Spy (使徒行者2: 谍影行动) is a Hong Kong drama action movie that was released on 7th August 2019.
About
Very much on the theme of everything in the Line Walker brand, three cops find out there is corruption in the police force and it’s up to them to find the culprits.
Cast
Louis Koo (古天樂) as Cheng Chun Yin [Instagram]
Francis Ng (吳鎮宇 ) as Yip Chi Fan
Nick Cheung (張家輝) as Ching To
All the above actors appeared in Line Walker 1 film but as different characters, not unusual for Hong Kong film and television productions.
There are some other famous Hong Kong actors making an appearance in the movie, and I believe Rico Chan was involved in the soundtrack.
Review
You don’t need to see the first film to see this one, or any of the series come to that, it stands on its own. It’s been some time since we saw the first Line Walker film and forgot what happened, so just as well I didn’t need to.
The story is good, a solid beginning and conclusion with twists in between. About half way through the movie I got a bit lost and maybe that was relating to their editing and continuity.
If you want action then this movie will not disappoint at all, it has plenty from start to finish. Some of the stunts were very good in the usual Hong Kong style.
I noticed the cinematography in parts was very good and they tried to be arty in the non-action scenes. The movie was shot in Hong Kong, Myanmar, The Philippines and Spain, so quite a blockbuster from a location perspective.
One this I noticed that no matter what action sequence it was in Louis Koo’s hair remain totally gorgeous as though it hadn’t moved. They must have got through a bucket of Brylcreem in the movie.
Summary
If you love action then this is the movie for you. I would rate it as 4/5, point taken off for getting confused during part of the story.
Where To Watch
The movie is currently on Tubi. Part 1 is on Netflix and Tubi. The Line Walker series is on Tubi. So now excuses to watch up on the whole Line Walker brand.
