My Rating: ★★★

Mulan: Light A Fire [木兰：血刃] is a Chinese historical and martial arts film that was released on 11 May 2026.

About

Mulan is discharged from the Army but when she returns home her parents have been murdered and her autistic brother kidnapped.

Cast

Chu Ai Xu (楚瑷旭) as Mulan
She is an actress and martial artist, as far as I can see this was her first film. She has made 3 others since. All her roles have been in the main role.

Review

This film was more like “Mulan The Sequel”, what happened to her after she came back from battles.

This was a web released movie, from what I can gather it wasn’t a cinema release.

The story wasn’t too bad at all, it continued to develop throughout the movie.

The movie did have flaws if you look closely and taking it too seriously, its ok just to sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

Some of the acting wasn’t that great from the supporting cast, this could be down to the directing of the movie or just simply a low budget.

There was some humour, plenty of heroic moments not only from the Mulan character, lots of heartache, no romance, some moderate violence that looked a bit fake and there were very strong female roles overcoming hardship.

Summary

Reviewers gave this an 8.9 on iQiyi, 4.4 on IMDB and 7.2 on MyDramaList. I would give is a 3/5 but I still think its worth a watch.

Where To Watch

We watched this on iQiyi about 6 weeks after its release date.
