Review

This film appears to receive middle of the road reviews on various sites and I would somewhat agree with them.

The action and martial arts were the best part of the movie with some very unique moves, those scenes made me exhausted just watching them, I bet they took a long time to film. At times the action was too much with little break from it. Some of the martial arts went into Wuxia style where characters were performing superhero type action. We never did find out whether the teachers of the martial artists were real or just in his imagination.

The story was quite simple and basic, although the drunken bit was an unexpected direction.

The special effects were ok for 2010 but by today’s standards the flaws would stack up.

The acting was good. We were very pleased to see a special guest appearance by Michelle Yeoh, as short as it was. Even though he is a trained martial artist I always feel Vincent Zhao is a little out of place in these types of movies.  It was interesting to see a younger and bald Andy On.  David Carradine made a guest appearance in the movie too, during the title they had a “In Memory” for him so he must of passed before the post production phase.

Summary

I would say this movie is worth a watch especially if you like a lot of martial arts action and interested in the celebrities that appear in it. I decided to split my scores up; I would give the action 5/5 but the story 3/5. In the end I just gave it a 4/5.

Where To Watch

We watched this movie on Tubi. Not sure if its available on any other services.
